Venezia e i suoi ponti, china blu, 35 x 45, 2015

About water and its crossings, Venice is a city of water and bridges. Bridge came from Latin pŏnte is defined as an architectural structure that allows the passage from one bank to another of a water course, or the overcoming of a depression of the ground, thus allowing the crossing of obstacles along the road. The project born in this city.

The word bridge also has the meanings of passing, from the root path- to go and from the root pad- step on. The bridge carries the symbolism of crossing and of ritual passage, the need to overcome limits and discover the unknown.

Linking two realities that don't communicate with each other in normal ways, the bridge is a possibility of rapprochement between opposing shores, experience of meeting with others, of communication and union. Conjunction of opposites, dichotomy between stability and transience, balance between static and provisional.

Road bridge, railway bridge, iron bridge, wooden bridge, reinforced concrete bridge, river bridge, maritime bridge, temporary bridge, barge bridge, boat bridge, raft bridge, removable bridge, arched bridge, flying bridge, bridge suspended, revolving bridge, drawbridge, rainbow.

About the water and its crossings, a map of Venice and the bridges that the city contains.

Many other cities are brimming with bridges: Amsterdam, St. Petersburg, Hamburg.

This project will grow up with other maps.
